It sucks to be the driver of that Spitfire. After getting an involuntary Pilkingtons Facelift he probably head butted the bonnet.

Wouldn't have been a "he " , it's a Spitfire . She should lose her licence

Re: 1979 Trouble Spitfire
Did the Spitfire get exported to USA , and if it did , why didn't they have the rubber bumper treatment?

Re: 1979 Trouble Spitfire
Yes it did. A massive hit over there.
It gained "Sabrinas". Imo a better job than MG did. Probably because Triumph was more loved by senior BL than MG, so got more budget.

Re: 1979 Trouble Spitfire
A lot easier than the MGs to convert back to pre-impact regs by only swapping the front and rear bumpers iirc. Find a rusty early one and do a swaparoo

For context, it's a much better effort integrating it into the styling than Lamborghini's of the time. Presumably Lamborghini assumed most customers would take them off on delivery.

The blisters on the underside of Hawker Hunters that collected used cannon shells were also known as Sabrinas, for the same reason.

The same as the large bullet style bumpers in the fifties got the nickname Dagmars.
