Re: Cars For Sale on the Roadside (not eBay)
An incredibly shite picture as I don't want to give any location details away. A customer asked me if I could help out shifting an old car his neighbour inherited when her husband passed away. She knows nothing about cars and never liked it as it was too flash and noisy. It has sat in the garage for the last 10 years when someone nicked the planks of wood he had to use to be able to get it over the hump at the end of his drive. That was the first thing that started his lack of interest. Another neighbour then complained about the noise when he used to run it up once a month. Being the type who didn't like to upset people he just closed the door and left it. He passed away last year and she has now decided to part with it. As you can see it is a TVR Cerbera speed 8 with TVR's own V8 4.2 lump. Any ideas what it might be worth as I kind of fancy it for myself but obviously don't want to rip the lady off. One non running one sold at auction for 13k but I certainly wouldn't pay that.

I've no idea like Hooli.
Is it worth contacting the TVR Car Club?

I'd want to see under it for certain, I've known of a few people with them & they've all had to get various chassis parts welded up.

What happened to standing in the newsagents and having a quick look at the price guide at the back of Practical Classics? #oldschool

Richard Kitch (on the beige) seem very knowledgeable on TVR's, as his business repairs and restores them (https://www.southwaysautomotive.co.uk).panhard65 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 4:03 pm An incredibly shite picture as I don't want to give any location details away. Love a TVR, but specialists out here are far and few between. Shame, as chassis rot would not be much of a problem

Re: Cars For Sale on the Roadside (not eBay)
Kind of what I am thinking around the 7k mark. She has had some guy's from the club have a look but I suspect it was a very poor offer they made as she was not impressed with them. Trouble is it will take me a couple of hours to just get it out of the garage so I can have a proper look at it. From the little I have read about them the engines are a bit special and not the good old Rover lump bored out which kind of puts me off it. These TVR guy's told her not to try starting it as it would probably catch fire. I assume they looked a bit better than I did if they found rotten fuel hoses, or they could just be trying it on as she honestly knows bugger all about it as she was never interested in it.

After ten years I'd be suspecting fuel hoses without even looking at them tbh. I don't think these often got the highest quality parts from new.
