Re: Mercrocker's 2nd annual car show PIC HEAVY
Nice to see Bob's XJ although he loses points for having a leaper stuck to the bonnet. Good assortment though, good that Skylark owner got it back and the Fleetwood is splendid. Holdsworth used to frequent a US car sales place and so did a mate who said that Reg was a very nice guy. He fell asleep on I think the M1 one night in another Cad and had a large accident and told my mate that the size and strength of the car saved him. The Isetta reminds me of the one an eccentric school friend owned back in about 1974, we had three in it one evening in Beckenham, him, me and my slightly plump girlfriend. I decided to stand and wave to people through the sunroof and plod took exception to this and pulled us over in their P6B. They did the classic nice and nasty routine, actually to be fair I think that the nasty one was like that all the time. He wasn't amused when I said that we were going to give them a chase but the other one smiled. He did check that my friend could change gear without hindrance, advised that I should remain in the bubble and let us go. He didn't see me a few days earlier when I used to open the door as we drove along and wave to people, ah the joys of being young and irresponsible.
I really should start a thread for my car show pics, not done as many this year due to the Impala being hors de combat and the Anglia only being recently-ish resurrected. Got quite an assortment of vehicles what I took pics of though.

The parking lights on that Westminster are from a ‘60s Volkswagen type 3.

Local car show returned to a nearby village today as the field in the usual place was too wet. Good turnout and no picnic chairs today although there were a fair few knobs with antlers on their heids....

The Norton on page one that was segregated from others, has a Triumph engine, so a Triton?

I thought that Cedric was a Laurel. Nice MK2 Granny - a car I have always aspired to, but especially in estate form, but will probably never own. In my estimation they were a huge leap forward from the mk1 (of which my old man owned 2 “in period”)
