It's all StillOrange's fault, who buggered off to Sweden a lot of years back, so the story is dedicated to him.

I'll also shorten a long story, because the story would be too long otherwise.
It all started in September when this fine piece of West German workmanship arrived on my radar:

So I bought it sight unseen, as usual, and SO registered it in his name, for it to be picked up and driven home void of any legality whatsoever.
Mind you, the car was located in Northern Sweden, but SO lives in Southern Sweden. The distance from Northern Sweden to Southern Sweden exceeds the Distance from Oop Narf to Darn Sarf most Brits deem excessive.

Anyway, wifeunit and I went through the torture they made out of the magic of air travel. Even the Plah was disabled.

We arrived in the metropole of Gidea, Sweden, after a 13 hour delay at the closed for refurbishment aeroporte de Stockholme due to staff shortages.
Not disappointingly, our hotel room looked like a 1980s IKEA catalog.

The next day we were supposed to meet the seller, who agreed to pick us up from the train station in Örnsköldsvik, but all trains from Gidea were cancelled due to staff shortages. So we embarked on a bus and the driver agreed to dump us at the side of the highway in Örnsköldsvik, because there is no bus stop.
Anyway, the seller did pick us up from there, much later than planned, the deal was dealt and we set off.

That is probably what mine should of looked like as it was a major ringer having a later Auto Union shell on the DKW chassis. I struggled getting mine to drive more than 30 miles without breaking down so balls of steel driving it home from Sweden.

Yes, there are pez station shots. Fuelling requires all sorts of tincture administering wizardry, you get used to other people watching you thinking you are a total terrorist.

Three days later, I wanted to visit a local car meet, again void of any legality, but the brake pedal fell to the floor.
It's been sitting outside a local garage ever since, so the better part of seven weeks.

In the meantime I've made it Great British and had plates made.

I had forgotten the joys of the opposite issue I had as a lad with a Honda SS50, trying to explain to angry women cashiers at filling stations that my chosen hairdryer was a 4 stroke and therefore didn’t require any “shots” and I therefore wouldn’t be paying for any despite the obvious implication that I was stealing.

Epic! Cracking cars, was lucky to have a spell fiddling around with a colleague's a few years back. We managed a good few ring-dings around the industrial estate before he lost interest and put it away behind half a dozen motorcycles....Dunno what happened to it after that, he went back to NZ and could well have taken it with him.
