I started riding on my 16th birthday. My grandma bought me a 1 year old Piaggio zip 50 2t. Being young and dumb I swapped it a few months later for an aprilia af1 50 that didn't run. Silly me.
Sort from the scooters I've mainly had 4 strokes but have a few smokers.
First 125 I purchased back in 2004 was a mid 70s jawa/cz 125. 4 speed box, very thirsty and rather slow but it would pull 4th from about 15mph. Ideal for me to get to grips with gears.
Another smoker was a 1989 Yamaha RxS 100. Nippy little thing and not had on fuel either. Used to cut out in the rain a lot though.
Final one was around 10 years ago and it was a R plate MZ saxon sportstar 125. Turning circle would rival the Titanic and the mpg of low 30s was off putting. Very comfy though but also very heavy.

The RXS was a great little macnine, except at night like most learner machines the headlight was terrible
I might be wrong.but I think the MZ Saxon 125 shared the same frame as the 250.
That would explain the weight.

I mentioned this on another thread - I only had two bikes - an original Honda SS50 (4 speed - later ones were 5 speed), and a Benelli 250 2c (2 stroke).
I used to get stick off filling station cashiers with the SS50. In those days they'd have a 2 stroke can out by the pumps with a dispenser so 2t bikers could fill up with fuel and then shoot a couple (or however many the mix needed) of shots of oil into the tank. They charged you for the oil by the shot and I often got a sideways look for telling the cashier I hadn't used any - of course they knew fuck all about engines most of the time so they thought I was pulling a fast one.

One celebrity I occasionally carry in my taxi is 1992 Olympic gold medal winning and Halfords road bike purveyor Chris Boardman. It may come as a surprise to hear that he's a decent bloke and not at all a cunt who's up his own arse.

The next time I see him I'm going to suggest a charity race between lardarse, chainsmoking Warren T Claim on any Boardman bike of his choice, and him on a pre '77 Fs1E or AP50 with the engine off but the mandatory pedal engaged.

I fucking swear it's impossible to pedal a moped more than half a mile on the flat without collapsing of cardiac failure.

This 1988 barn find DT80 looks like a snip at 500 Euro if you can get it back from France.
