Not for time being I'm afraid, the DVLA revoked my licence for being unable to pass a field of vision test. Going to Moorfields next Thursday to see if there's anything they can do for me. I feel like a fish out of water after having my Class 1 (c&e) for 43 years.
Shit! What's a field of vision test?

Thanks people. I can still drive up to 7.5 ton (C1), but just don't feel right without 44 ton under my arse.
A field of vision test: You sit with your face pressed up against a screen. In the middle of the screen is a dot which you mustn't take your eyes off of. Random pinpricks of light appear around the rest of the screen. You are holding a button which you press every time you see one of these pinpricks. There's no cheating. If you miss more than a few of these pinpricks, you're doomed. The DVLA doesn't allow you to miss many. I think my problem is due to scarring on my left eye from work I had done years ago.
I think you can read up on the test on the DVLA website medical section.

I know what you mean.
I have a similar sort of test when I go to have my eyes tested at the opticians but I'm sat about a foot from the screen.

Good luck at Moorfields.

Thanks Lyneham.
This will be my last shot at getting my HGV 1 back. If Moorfields say no dice, then I'll give up on that idea. Just wanted a few more years at the big wheel.

Bloody hell, with a memory like that are you sure you don't have a thing for lightbulbs and the DVLA?
I'm making the assumption of that's the case all those holiday stories about foreign women were a figment of your imagination....

Thanks bluejeans. I bought that as a pressie for Mrs Tetley who was getting over fairly major surgery at the time. I took her out in it and she didn't want it. I was royally pissed off, so I advertised it straight away. Two really shady looking blokes came down from Basildon and bought it straight away. They weren't worried about documentation or owt. I just sold it for what I paid for it. I think I had it for less than a day. Shame, it was a nice old Beemer was that.
