Well they went for the MG / Vanden PLAH version of the engine, but they also seemed to have skipped the twin SUs and stuck on a pair of Dellorto DFZ carbsWarren t claim wrote: ↑Sat Apr 10, 2021 3:03 am This whole Wop Leyland connection intrigues me.
The Italians love their revvy and gutsy for their capacity engines so why would they entertain a turgid A Series that likes to be lobbed in fourth gear at 20mph?

Innocenti Austin A40
Innocenti 950 (hammer a Ghia body over a Mk1 A-H Sprite) Innocenti Mini Minor I'll stop there, because I'll very quickly end up at the Regent and I really don't want to see that.

- I scored very low on the autie test. I’m cheerful, happy, confident, like meeting new people, chatty and largely sociable. What the fuck am I doing on this forum?

Re: 1965 Innocenti Morris IM3 Boneschi
Having an Italian mother I used to go to Italy every year during the ‘60’s and ‘70’s. It was odd seeing the Innocenti Austins and Morrisses. There was always something slightly different about them as if the designer had taken a step to the right before getting his pencil out. Good thread.

How well would it have sold in the US? Innocenti stuff was always much nicer than ours.

Kind of makes sense since most of that stuff was styled by Italian designers in the first place.

That little spider looks much better than a frog eye imho.
It looks like it’s where Honda got a few ideas too.

Some more pics of the rear seat arrangement. Here's where they are normally (Mk2 1100):Eddie Honda wrote: ↑Sat Apr 10, 2021 2:58 amIt wasn't any longer! They moved the rear seat back about 25cms doing away with the parcel shelf and shrinking the boot. I think the fuel filler flap on the left rear wing is to nowhere as the filler pipe has been relocated into boot.
Here's a side view of the IM3 that has sculptured rear seats rather than a straight bench.
And here is where they are in the Boneschi

The improvements in comfort and the fact the U.K. management didn’t adopt them prove how much they were influenced by Mad Alec and his ‘ discomfort is good for safety “ mantra.
I remember seeing the odd Innocenti Cooper S and Mini Hatchback things around London in the early 80’s and wondering why BL didn’t sell them, and when the Metrofinally appeared, how come it looked 10 years older?
