Also considering that the front end rebuild set for the Chieftain is about $580, the front end rebuild for this is $250.

Brakes, steering, suspension parts are all cheap.

So, in the grand scheme of things no, not ultimately very cheap, but that's the going price and honestly, they've not been dropping in value. I reckon if I stay under ten grand I can get my money back selling it.

We have fairly clean +0.040" pistons from something 32 valve hemi; no clue there.

16v wedge heads. I am asking about to see if that is a plausible combination. I think it was stored with the plugs out for ages, and one valve is stuck.

One pot on this side is a bit mediocre.

Also, does that say "I've been rebuilt" to you? No, me neither. That'll come apart too.

I reckon if the crank isn't too shetty and the rest is reasonable I reckon I could smoke about in that for a while.

Looks like everything needs redoing, no wonder they abandoned the project.

I don't mind. That bore there is at maximum (official) oversize so good excuse to look for a 440 to replace it.

I'll rebuild it for now just to put an engine in.

The gearbox is rated for the 7.2 so putting it behind a 5.3 is fine.

Ok, looks like this is a saveable situation- they've transposed pistons 7 and 8.

I found my calipers, put a new battery in and checked the big ends on the crank.

All a uniform (thrust and slack faces) 2.125"-2.129".

Wow.

So the crank is good on that, I didn't feel like fighting the main bolts tonight, l will pull those and check the mains too (and bearing fitment) another day.

Going to try to to the DMV and get the title put in my name tomorrow.

How does it work with it being Interstate? More paperwork?

Yes. Forms and fees and rubber stamps.

I had to draw up a bill of sale identifying the car, names, addresses, money exchanged etc., get that notarized, then same for Mississippi title.

I will then have to pay the $65 title fee for state transfer and then pay the taxes on the value of the car as sold.
