Quick check over and to the MOT station as already noted. Passed with advisories as per.

Needs both front arm axles bushes doing and a pair (set) of lower ball joints.

Clunk from prop? and axles, gearbox and transfer box oils doing.

Great colour.
Huge testicles! (I know nothing about P38s, only the internet rumours. Nobody tells lies on the internet do they?)

I have the popcorn and cola ready for the next instalment.....

Mate had one - this is the fella that got my Cowley through the MOT after 9 years in a scrapyard and revived a dead Silver Shadow from behind a farmer's house. His P38 managed to break him, utterly. To the point he now drives a Hyundai......

No, it's all true. The lizards, anti-vax etc etc.

Same people who laughed when I bought a D3 with ALL of the warning lamps on except oil and alternator. You know, tuts, laugh, my mate says, etc etc.

:-)

It's OK buying P38s now. It is when they were ten grand that the pain was most acute.

Will I never learn?
For years, people were giving P38s away for peanuts, did I want one then ? No, of course not, same with S Class Mercs, I never like them when they’re cheap. As soon as the values firm up they start to look attractive to me.

The logical thing would be to go out and buy a £1000 L322 and a £1000 S500, I won’t I’ll wait until they’re £5000 and you can’t get cheap parts.

I particularly like that colour and orange indicators.

So..

At some pint it was servcied. Ha.

If you don't bother to fit the air filter element actual 'in' the recess for it, the lid for the housing doesn'tfit properly - moreso if you just ham-fistedlt force lid on. it bends the two guides on the lid.

Thusly

it can allow damp/water in to the element. Which was dry, but had been wet at somepoint.

it now fits, seals and filters. Takes literally the same anount of time to do it right.

These are such a good looking motor. A mate had a well specced one in some sort of Imperial blue years back, cream leather, V8 on gas, nice place to be.

I'm pretty sure that a nice one of these should be a safe bet on appreciating nicely because of all the horror stories about them that circulate. I expect their numbers have been decimated over the last few years. If I was to take a punt on one it'd be the same as you've got with the derv in it as it's a well known, relatively simple engine.

Are these the ones that it's critical to have a tip top battery on or it can cause untold electrical maladies?
