I bet you run these things deliberately to give your students an idea of what real life holds in store for them. Ideally you should make them work in an oily puddle with a gale blowing!

there's more than an element of truth in that - except for the gale/water down leg/neck. the ones that relish it and get stuck in will be 'me' hopefully in 30 years.DodgeRover wrote: ↑Mon Feb 21, 2022 8:40 pm I bet you run these things deliberately to give your students an idea of what real life holds in store for them. Maybe more hair.
They get it all, good and bad. Wins and losses - it's not the same as doing it yourself but it's as close as i can get.
Arms here 1.30pm. Should have it stripped by then.
Also front pads...not to bad I hear you say? Did I ?
Also rear discs, pads and shoes. Lovely.
N/s/f d/shaft tripod is rattling it's head off - despite being repacked last July. Meh.
Front prop rear joint does the fandango - next on list.

Ah
Well, now then.
And there we have the problem.

They are the (infamous) front lower arms of a D3/4/RangeRover Sport.
Can you see the problem with the old one?

Look at the steel insert in the rear (closest one) on both arms.
Re: Disco 3, everything, for the diagnosing of. x1
Nope. As above, have a look at insert
Ps, all of the pins and the lower air strut pin came out. Unheard of. Loads of lube on them..which, unfortunately lead to this. Which has just cost me £260 and about 5 hours.

In brief-
Wheels off. .
Caliper carrier off.
Bottom ball joint.
Top ball joint.
Lower arms pins front and rear.
Strut pin.
Driveshaft nut.
Driveshaft (can leave in box if you try).
Catch arm. Then caliper. .
HBOL refit is....
And then this.
Obviously I had a look at pads and was a little concerned. See the carrier? See the lower slider pin? See how it doesn't. See how it took 20 odd minutes to free it off? See how you should check the grease? Bastard.
