I bet that even Merc and TheRev haven't come across one of these.

I have, in my possession, a new hoodframe off one of them. How do I know? It's about 4 fucking inches too long for a normal roadster!

Anybody interested at a bargain price?

I know about the hood conversions but I haven't come across an actually lengthened car. I think the idea was to enable someone to crouch in the back of the car with the hood up in an entirely uncomfortable, rather than impossible, manner. Can't remember who did them, though, - Car Hoods or Don or somebody.

I'd forgotten about them it's so long ago.
I apologise for doubting you, that'll teach me to be a smartarse.
The problem is that it's the bit above the driver is too long so I reckon it's a fabricating fault.
Just to add to the wallet haemorrhage I just got the car cover out.
It's lost its waterproof characteristics due to a surfeit of mouse holes.

Wallet haemorrhage? You're an amateur. Buy a transit and join the professionals.

It's not just the wrong year is it?

I'm just thinking if the windscreen angle & details of the hood varied over the years it could explain it.

It's not me it's the garage, I just get asked to go around to have a look, say shit! and then approve them buying a correct one.

If it was me you'd probably be right though, I am totally useless at that sort of thing.

Unfortunately not. These guys restore at least one or more MGBs or Cs a year. There's also only two types of hoodframe and they look very different.

You're a wealthy plumber, I'm a pensioner.
In % terms it hits me harder than you. Are you going to have to count the beans out of the tin before you share them out on the toast?

Not with asda smart price beans. We can all have a quarter of a tin each.
Anyway what are the aerodynamic efficiencies of the spare hood you have? Could you not fashion it into some sort of glider? You're money's not wasted then.
