Ford 100e info

Post by DodgeRover »

Err who can tell me about these? My wife saw one the other day and was really taken by it. Sadly my knowledge is limited to the 105e back axle, a cross flow and uprights from something I can't remember being popular modifications a long while ago....

Or www.ford100e.org loads of info on there. The Prefect 107E was made for a couple of years with the Anglia 105E 997cc engine so the bulkhead doesn't need cutting to get a later Ford engine in, the original 100E with the wheezy 1172cc sidevalve and three speed box doesn't have the room to put in a later engine without extensive surgery. Plus they had a torque tube to the weedy rear axle hence the use of a 105E one assuming you can find one these days. As far as I can recall the best struts for a modified one are either Escort or Capri, think someone does a kit to do that. A standard 100E is okay but they don't like going too far over 60-ish and the three speed has strange ratios so you have to wind the engine up to keep momentum. They have the useless vacuum wipers too.

Aren’t they rather thirsty? 25mpg with 2cv performance. Extremely simple vehicles, If Ford could leave it out, then they did so.

Helping Dad fix Mum’s 100E as a teenager is probably part of why I prefer simple vehicles.

Of courseyou want one.
