Is it important for a car to have poke?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Like bollocks you would!

Try a NA 1.9 BX auto or a NA 1.6 340. They properly define slow.

I’d love to drive a D16 Volvo. Never seen one before. I don’t think UK got them. Anyway in such miserly POD-Solutions motors, the wagons tend to pull out into the overtaking lane out of sympathy. When they clock a relatively modern pretty-wheeled German car, they just shrug and think ‘should have bought a pokier one mate’

They certainly didn't get them. The RHD version was RoI only. Came in booted and hatched versions. It's a strange mix of parts. The body shell is 360, with the spare wheel pressing in the boot floor. The prop has bonded rubber couplings that are the same as the 1.4/1.7 petrols. There is shit loads of diesel-only soundproofing.

It really needs a flashing yellow beacon on the roof like the milk floats I used to see on the A40 around Northolt.

I think this is possibly the slowest vehicle I have, a 1.9 xud na engine is ok in most smaller cars but stick it in a van and it's painfully slow.
Anything I drive afterwards feels like a flying machine.Image

Thing is, that's probably quicker than the heap of shit I had when I was doing City Link deliveries.

Same year. Same engine. But it was in a bulkier Convoy.

You never got that 1.9 lump in Convoy as far as I'm aware. It was 200/Pilot only. The XUD was a retro move from the Perkins Prima/MDi

It was slow as fuck and a Pug engine. I still have nightmares. That's all I know.
