Focus CC - possible impulse buy
I know the Focus is not exactly a thrilling prospect, but I quite like the CC. A used car place a medium length walk from my front door has one on the forecourt. 2.0 petrol manual. Local car 85k on the clock and about 3k. New mot and freshly serviced. I might get it for the Missus to biff about in and borrow it myself on sunny days.
I know fuck all about these, but not aware of any horror stories.
Feel free to scare me shitless. I’ll probably buy it anyway if it drives ok.
I am sure the price is terrible, but bear in mind I can walk to pick it up - no collection shenanigans. I am so lazy nowadays that I set my search radius at 1 mile.

Re: Focus CC - possible impulse buy
I’m not planning to jump one over another one on two wheels, I don’t even have a cap-gun, I shan’t propose to sail it up the Baltic, and your name won’t be top of a sinister list. Other than that, possibly, yes.
Are they that bad? I’ve never owned a convertible before and fancy one.

Didn't these have issues keeping the rain out?

Re: Focus CC - possible impulse buy
I seem to remember that as well.
Nergle lives in the driest county in the UK so it's less of a problem than with you web footed Liverpudlians.
Given that it's going to be bought with loose change from down the back of the sofa I'd seriously consider it if it had a good warranty that covered the roof. Mind you given my car history I'd ignore any advice I gave.

Ford dealers were instructed to buy the early ones back from customers to send them straight to auction; their water leaks were incurable on the early models.

The EOS suffered from chronic water leaks too. Except VAG didn't do a buy back, just supply a rubber softening stick that the owner was supposed to regularly apply.AutoshiteBoy wrote: ↑Mon Jun 07, 2021 6:36 am Ford dealers were instructed to buy the early ones back from customers to send them straight to auction; their water leaks were incurable on the early models.

The one you're looking at is probably twice the going rate. It needs to be immaculate for that kind of money.

Loose change!? Pah! That’s nearly a couple of days graft. Which at my current rate of lethargy is about 2 weeks at the dining room table.
Roof leaks eh? Good, that’ll be the signal for her to turn on the wipers.
Horrific to look at? I can live with that. From the back they don’t cover themselves with glory, but on the whole I find them more interesting than the alternatives which all seem to be Fiestas and Corsas within my 1 mile acceptable search radius.
I knew the price was rather top end for these but I know the chap selling it and he has a good reputation for selling decent examples and it will come with a warranty. I’ll try and haggle a bit.
I’ll go and see it after breakfast.
