Any step through was out of the question too.
I always had a soft spot for the honda c90 as me mam had one. I have had 2 and now have an Innova.
The C90 was the chosen steed for men into Dungeon's and Dragons who live with their mum and have a suspect internet browsing history.
My mum died in 1995 so her internet history wasn't much of an issue. She had an honda city express and upgraded to a blue late 80s 12v c90.

Wasn't the City Express a 2 speed?

I've no idea. I was 8 when she died and had the c90 for at least couple of years before that so I'd have been 5 or 6 when she had it.

Just googled it and it was an honda express nc50.

No. CVT

The older Express II is what you're thinking of.

I don't know how it works fully but there's perhaps a way around?
Yes as long as it still has it's pedals

Goes too fast for an AM licence. Why retain a cat p as granddad rights?

They make a big thing about them being derestrictable once they've been run in, I bet they make a CB50J look sprightly when they are restricted.
I can't see a 50cc 4 stroke thriving on the amount of revs it will be pulling to make power...
