I wouldn't go near a modern diesel with clutch trouble as that will get very expensive very quickly. Why not have a go on Retroshite's raffle for a proper Mini Clubman this weekend
I come from a Mini family. My dad always had a mini, alongside his full sized family cars.
I would struggle to wear an original Clubman.
I have bought a few of Retroshites tickets. W123, VW Kilux pickup etc.
Quirky stuff
If you can’t fix it with a hammer, you have an electrical problem mate.
The last vehicle owned by either of my parents was a Note....."Note"worthy for being by far the most reliable vehicle they ever owned and is still giving good service to one of my nieces.
There's a great long bar in Rock & Roll heaven.......
Jtd 1.9 engines aren't too bad. The later multijet wasn't as reliable from what I've seen in both 1.3 and 1.9. I'd still recommend a bingo or partner from early 2000s with a 2.0 HDI. Get the multi space version as seats barrel forward or do what I've done and removed the 60% side leaving a single rear seat. Seats unbolt easy enough with only a few bolts at the front.
If you don't fancy the E11 Note, which you can fold the seats totally flat and the cover above the spare wheel lifts into a higher position giving a totally flat floor, how about a Skoda Roomster ?.
They were sold in Europe as a van and you get sliding side doors. One with the 1.9 engine should be OK. We had one of those when they first came out, Even Mrs BMH was amazed how much shite she could get in it.
We've got a 1.6 diesel one and are very happy with it.
We've only had to remove the seats a couple of times during Uni moves.
It'll cruise at 85mph 5 up and normally gives around 55mpg. Apart from a clutch cylinder failing it's been very reliable over the 6 or 7 years since we bought it.
