I come from a Mini family. My dad always had a mini, alongside his full sized family cars.

I would struggle to wear an original Clubman.

I have bought a few of Retroshites tickets. W123, VW Kilux pickup etc.

Quirky stuff

First version of the Nissan Note or isn't it big enough?.

Choice of three engines, various specs from poverty to rich bastard and generally not expensive. Bought my Mrs one last year and she loves it.

The last vehicle owned by either of my parents was a Note....."Note"worthy for being by far the most reliable vehicle they ever owned and is still giving good service to one of my nieces.

Only thing that puts me off the note is it's essentially a Renault modus with Renault electrics and engines. And Renault scare me especially the dci.

I like the Note/Modus from a looks point of view.

I think it is just a touch too small.

I could be wrong though.

Following on from my question that started with Nissans, Minis and Berlingos…..

Was chatting with a friend and he asked if I had considered a Gen 1 Multipla.

The 1.9 JTDi motor?? Any good?

Of course I had completely forgotten about them.

Soooooooooo…..,

It has to be absolutely spot on Autoshite fodder.

Or is it??

Go on………

Jtd 1.9 engines aren't too bad. The later multijet wasn't as reliable from what I've seen in both 1.3 and 1.9. I'd still recommend a bingo or partner from early 2000s with a 2.0 HDI. Get the multi space version as seats barrel forward or do what I've done and removed the 60% side leaving a single rear seat. Seats unbolt easy enough with only a few bolts at the front.

A Nissan Note is a fake Honda Jazz.

If you need a bit bigger and don't mind a JDM import, there's the Honda Mobilio (boxy 7 seater Jazz)

If you don't fancy the E11 Note, which you can fold the seats totally flat and the cover above the spare wheel lifts into a higher position giving a totally flat floor, how about a Skoda Roomster ?.

They were sold in Europe as a van and you get sliding side doors. One with the 1.9 engine should be OK. We had one of those when they first came out, Even Mrs BMH was amazed how much shite she could get in it.

We've got a 1.6 diesel one and are very happy with it.
We've only had to remove the seats a couple of times during Uni moves.

It'll cruise at 85mph 5 up and normally gives around 55mpg. Apart from a clutch cylinder failing it's been very reliable over the 6 or 7 years since we bought it.
