Possibly but would be nice to keep it more original? An old Hilux bed looks very much like it but what's the chance of finding one of them? https://www.retrofication.co.uk/bedcomplete.html I've found that listed but out of stock at the mo.

Another one has popped up for sale. I know they'll get stronger money in France but I still think it'll be safe enough to throw a couple of K at it and not completely turn yourself over? I think his brothers going to spray it so significant savings there potentially?

I got a Sip air chisel, tool itself is ok but the chisels are wank. I cut straight into the spot weld one with a file so sharpened it significantly more with a sanding disk and heated it to orange and quenched it. Now it's hard! The chisels are stupidly short too so grabbed a re-bar offcut and punned it down to a chisel, shaped it with the sander and quenched that too, much more like it.

Well, what an absolute twat of a job that was. The spot welds are all 8mm and really well done, there was no way of removing them without drilling every single one of the little bastards first...

I ended up cutting down each rail as it made removal easier, the bed is definitely now scrap. I've cut the tapered ends and the rear section that holds the tailgate off in a big chunk to be trimmed down later. Unpicking that rear section was really difficult as some of the pieces are doubled up with hidden spot welds underneath. Some of the spots were just impossible to see so I ended up trimming the rough area and then linishing the bloody things flat instead.

Thankfully the horizontal struts are still in good nick under the surface rust. There's some Hydrate 80 on the way and it's going to get painted in Por15.

Possibly stupid question but are pattern parts available in Africa for these?

Not a stupid question at all as that's where most of these have ended up by the sounds of it. I've had no leads that way so far though and have found nothing when trying to research it either.
I've been for a ride round locally today and circumvented the reception and sales people by catching the attention of the blokes on the shop floor, fingers crossed I may have found a way of replicating the floor to a degree and the U section required? The U section is particularly tricky as it's taller than it is wide so you can't do it on run of the mill kit.

The floor wouldn't be the same pattern as used in the load bed of transits etc would it?
