You mean that Starchem stuff is actual paint stripper, like the old Nitromors
was.

Absolutely. I'm not much of one for H and S but that stuff wants to be used in a very well ventilated area and I'm pretty sure you don't want it in your eye.

A few updates. My V50 is still transport, the sealed battery I topped up last winter is now pretty much fucked but I got 6 months plus out of it, the triangle of doom is still very much e ident and will not go away.
The neighbours V50 i sorted the starting problem on has finally thrown another wobbly. This time a code thrown up saying passenger rear door central locking. All lubed up with 3 in 1 copper grease spray this time. Fucking poxy twatting thing was flat again 2 days later FFS. It's now showing an alarm fault that won't clear. She's taking it to the garage for a service anyway, it's steaming up at night so I've suggested they clear the air con drains as this seems to be a common problem. Maybe this time the siren battery pack has failed?
Talking of commons.

A pretty apt location for a sheep in wolfs clothing.

The MGBGT has been neglected the last couple of years but hopefully that'll change soon. I couldn't do all the work to it but don't really want to get involved. Someone local has been recommended who's going to go thru it, adjust tappets, replace fuel hoses, free off/service brakes, put bits of interior back etc etc.
A quick look in the inner arch shows this car has actually had a bit of welding at some point, when is a complete mystery. The drivers wing has been removed in the past by the looks of it. There's a definite hole at the top so that'll need to be addressed too.
My old man paid good money to have the bumpers re-chromed a few years back, they are covered in surface rust already. I'm not sure where he got them done but they are definitely getting a phone call. I don't think the car has even been out in the rain since they were done?

Yep, it drives really well too so it'd be good to see it used more again. I've known the car my whole life, it's the same age as me and my nan had it from new. Most weekends for years when younger were spent at my grandparents place so I was picked up and dropped off in it while my mum and dad worked. It's been on the continent and done a tour of the islands in Scotland many moons ago, I'm sure there's a few trips left in it yet.

We aren't quite sure of the series of events that caused this tbh, there are a few theories at the mo. A boost hose blew and a few seconds later there was a thunk noise, this was also just after a particularly harsh shift between gears. The fan seems to be rather too close at the bottom to the rad, did the blown boost hose move the rad, did the previously cut heat blanket droop and catch a fan blade, did the engine shunt far enough forward to cause the blades to catch the rad, who the fuck knows?
What I can say is Tom has fitted a map sensor, changed the fuel filter after some idling/running issues and messed with the map and by fuck does it pull hard on boost now
It's actually running rich at points now where before it was totally leaned out. I reckon he's just unleashed 100bhp in one fell swoop
30 seconds of fun and 175 quids worth of damage but it's now showing real promise. Anyone got a rad and fan kicking about?

That bloody BGT always makes me do a double take.
Modern chrome is no where near as good as old stuff. All the fruity chemicals during plating that made it last have pretty much been banned now. The repro bumpers not only have crap chrome but are completely the wrong shape too. Might be worth having a look around for a good set of used.
I probably should take better care of my brightware really.

MGB is lovely, just looks like it will fire straight up, get itself off the trailer and be ready for another adventure. I love long-termers like that.
