Re: 1951 Pontiac Chieftain
My Oxford once did the oil-pressure lurch to the left like a Keir Starmer wet-dream on Election Night's Swing-o-Meter. As I'd only checked the level the day before I initially put it down to dashboard electric gremlins. Thankfully, I stopped at a nearby relative's to double check. The bastarding spin-on oil filter adapter had let go, along with most of the sump contents - much of which was running down Uncle's block-paving.
There's a great long bar in Rock & Roll heaven.......

Re: 1951 Pontiac Chieftain
Couple upcoming items to do.
Clock needs to come out and be serviced, it's losing time. I can hear it getting clicky, which means it's got a tooth that's catching the escapement, and that happens when it doesn't move freely.
Radio needs to come out and be realigned now it's got a few hours on, it's all out of adjustment and the reception isn't as good as it should be.
I had a strange dream the other morning, where I pulled maybe half a car worth of spare parts out of my mailbox (which is about the size of two shoeboxes). Most of it was steering and suspension stuff. My subconscious is trying to tell me to stop ignoring the suspension, I guess...

Phil can I ask if you know if there are any common faults with the modern ford V10 as fitted in the Econoline 350? Any commonly required spares I should get put in the back before shipping?

Most of them are driven with so little load on that the consumable parts wear and get junky (timing parts, friction bits) but other than that- ignition spares mostly. They're tucked down where it gets hot and the coil packs like to do a Honda occasionally.DodgeRover wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 1:14 pm Phil can I ask if you know if there are any common faults with the modern ford V10 as fitted in the Econoline 350? Beyond that no, not really. Everybody I know who had one said it went on and on and on. Mostly bought to occasionally tow a big camper trailer.
