Re: 1951 Pontiac Chieftain
The 1104 replacements are too wide (hacksaw fixed that) and the other bulbs are the 120v version.
Not totally happy about that. 12v version of the long spotty ones should be here Thursday.

I got as far as this before having to down tools and fix things after hours for work.
Might be able to pull the radiator out after dinner.

Nope, that didn't happen. It all drained down though and I put it into containers.
That's the very dregs from the bottom of the radiator. Pleased with how clean it is. That can go back in.

I thought it'd come out the dog when I first scrolled down.

Ah, there is the missing piece. Heavy bastard of a thing it is to wrangle it with slick gooey antifreeze water all over everything.
Fire and a brass brush, go!
Yeah, the old solder looks a bit ropey. I'm hoping it's just the outside of the core that's leaking.
Cleaned up a couple places the paint was bubbling off. Yup, old brittle brass cracks again. I likely missed those two the first time round.
I need some new brushes to carry on what I'm going to smash the fins to bits with the old, crappy brushes I have right now.
More to follow.

Re: 1951 Pontiac Chieftain
My new LED lights arrived today.
The original 14W filament bulb in the interior light fitting. Not bad really but it does get a bit warm.
Funny little silicone gel light bulb.
Illuminated. Not bad for 5W and really just to look at with the light coming through the ivory colored plastic you'd not guess it was LED.
Fitted one to the under hood light too. Nice and bright.
Got an LED-friendly flasher unit coming for it too, do the current one can go back into the Renault.

It's good you can't tell it's LED or it'd really ruin the ambience in there.

Re: 1951 Pontiac Chieftain
Yeah, if it looked horrible I'd put the other bulb back in but it's well within acceptable limits for "normal"
