I agree. That's usually my after picture though after starting off with it like Phil's second picture.j

Yep. First picture is the Cowley now. Second one is the Cowley - possibly - after a few weekend's work. Only difference being that it wouldn't be running at all and the only thing that worked would be the left hand trafficator, after pulling the light switch out to its second setting.

Does remind me though, I need to get an extinguisher for it.

Bought some silicone lubricant spray, and of the two door glasses that are still intact, I lubricated the runners.
A few creaks from the mechanism notwithstanding, they now wind up and down fairly smoothly.

What happened with the other window glasses is the glass got stuck in the top of the frame, and the glass became detached from the sash channel as it was wound down.

The operator, upon winding it back up because nothing happened and the handle went floppy broke the glass because the mechanism was now freely able to wobble about laterally in the door. The sash channel missed the glass, went up past it then the mechanism made contact at a huge pressure point on the bottom edge and CRACK, there goes the glass.

So, possibly some new sash channels, window runner channels and glass should see those working correctly again.

At last something you're not unnaturally talented at!

Tidied up the oil pressure warning light wiring, noticed the oil pressure gauge pipe union was leaking so tightened that up.
Made a spring for the carburetor throttle shaft to fully return it home because the linkage over the engine is a bit tired.

In running the engine up to warm I saw the gauge was a little high, which was cause for concern.

Raising the engine rpm to get the fan moving more air and the water pump moving more coolant had little effect. I went in and got my IR thermometer.

The whole engine was about the same temperature, and the radiator. So the gauge is reading over. That I can fix.

Yup, that's household window putty. Front glass channel is missing, the glass contacted the metal hard and fractured.
