Re: What did you do today?
Today's job was a thermostat on a V6 Freelander. I told him it might still be the headgasket but it was somewhere to start. I also advised that at 100 quids worth of parts I wouldn't even bother fitting a stat as it just wasn't worth it. So a few hours later after changing the stat and filling it up with coolant I go to start it. Sure enough the fucker miss fires briefly then when warm chucks all it's coolant out. The muppet has continued to use it since I told him the stat was stuck and now blown the fucking headgasket. over 1200 quid to do them with new water pump, cambelt and plugs. He is thinking about it !!!!! I thought I was bad throwing money at fucked old cars but this guy is putting me to shame.

Thems the worst accidents, when you can’t avoid it. Glad you’re ok, cars can be replaced.
Just when I thought I was out they dragged me back in.

Yes, but when it's done the car'll be worth £400.panhard65 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2020 4:45 pm Today's job was a thermostat on a V6 Freelander. Re: What did you do today?
I did the cam belt and water pump on my newly dropped off A4 yesterday, 4 cyl 1.8T Turbo thing. Front bumper off etc. Not a bad job really as long as you take the HBOL with a large pinch of salt.
Audis puzzle me. They don't drive anywhere near as good as a BMW, or a decent Golf for that matter. The front suspension design has to be seen to be believed, around 23 bushes and balljoints per side. For what, Mr Vorsprung.D Technic?

To have actually paid money for a Freeloader of any description suggests that you aren't quite the full ticket.cros wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 10:31 amYes, but when it's done the car'll be worth £400.panhard65 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2020 4:45 pm Today's job was a thermostat on a V6 Freelander. As an owner of one of these deeply flawed conveyances I'm not the slightest bit upset by your comments, in fact I'm in full agreement.

Re: What did you do today?
Don't worry it's not mine. I have enough hopeless money pits but I am not quite daft enough to own a Freelander. I think I have finally persuaded him not to have it done. He asked me to check it over for mot and it also needs a couple of tyres and has the old favourite prop removed for economy. So it is basically a total heap of shit. The Reverend Bluejeans wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2020 3:57 pmTo have actually paid money for a Freeloader of any description suggests that you aren't quite the full ticket.cros wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 10:31 amYes, but when it's done the car'll be worth £400.panhard65 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2020 4:45 pm Today's job was a thermostat on a V6 Freelander.
