What did you do today?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Fingers crossed it'll be ok. Hard to comprehend this side of the pond where, in most places, needing to evacuate is pretty much a never-never occurrence. Especially to have the unknown if your house is even going to be there.

Do they cut services for safety? Or is power+water available the whole time?

Have all neighbours left too?
Well, it picked up energy, it's now nearly a category 5 (150 mph wind right now)- almost the same as Katrina. By 8pm tonight it'll be directly over our house.
Power stays on as long as it can. Water is in the towers so there's a few days of good water before it needs to be boiled.

This gonna be bad.
I can't like that post as that's the wrong action.

At least in 2021 we have weather radar, satellite imaging and reasonable forecast modeling so everyone at least gets a chance to batten down the hatches and scarper people+animals out of harms way with plenty of time.

Does the family not fancy moving to blighty where the weather is slightly less eventful with milder swings to the extremes?

Depending on how bad things are, this may be a call to move.
UK? Probably not. Elsewhere in the USA? Yeah.

Got any cameras setup so you can see what's happening live, rather than waiting for the surprise when you get back?

Clogged passages are far more common than faulty EGR valves.
I'd agree with that, looking at the state of the EGR plate channels on the Honda Jizz. I didn't even get a fault code.
Today I cleared the codes, took it for a run and now just have the P0488 again.

My Autel code reader has an EGR monitor bank 1 facility. I won't pretend I know what it tests but of the four, the one called $80 shows a 'fail'. Google suggests it's something to do with the upstream test for differential pressure. I think the max limit should be higher.

Looking at a pdf of the workshop manual, the only reference to a differential exhaust pressure sensor is one attached the the DPF.

Other sensors on the system include
1. MAF sensor
2. EGR volume control sensor
3. Exhaust gas pressure sensor on exhaust manifold at the turbo inlet.
4. Turbo charger boost sensor which measures pressure in the inlet just after the throttle unit.
5. Accelerator pedal position sensor.
6. Throttle position sensor.

It won't rev above 3000 unless you let the revs drop then floor it. Even then, the revs drop back to 3000 after a couple of seconds.

Back to work shortly after a week off, I'll give the X Fail some thought whilst shunting.

Ish, there's cameras on the highway.

Those are out now. Power is out already.

Looks like the local weather radar is now broken. Presumably it got a direct hit.
