What did you do today?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Ah yes, typical tractor. The wires nearest the most recently painted panel are all red and the others are brown, rendering any of the colors that might have been there even more useless (looks like most of the wiring was either red or black, possibly a few had a color plus a chaser but you'd need to scrub the wires to tell, at which point they fall apart).

Time for a bit of logic and meter poking

A lot of the really old French stuff is all wires are black and if you are lucky some may still have the little coloured ring on them so you know whats what. Luckily when all you have is lights, wipers and ignition it isn't that hard to totally rewire the bloody thing.

Inside an old Volvo fuse board... it's mostly fucking red. Which red is which might have been helpful.

Spent the day sorting the clutch on the van. The previous owner was a gearbox and clutch "specialist". He was supposed to of fitted a new clutch recently but the pedal kept going to the floor after about 20 miles on the motorway. I changed the master cylinder and the pipework but it still kept doing it. So today I pulled the box out, what stupid cunt thought it was a good idea to make a concentric slave cylinder. What concieveable advantage could there possibly be in fitting one. I pulled the box out and found the slave cylinder leaking but it had at least had a new LUK clutch fitted in the past, There was also a broken bearing on one of the gear selector rods so I chucked a replacement box in it at the same time. I got it all back together before packing it in for the day so hopefully it will be all good in the morning when I finish it.

Previous owner must have been Fat Bob.

I've got one of those bastard concentric slaves to deal with on that Mk4 Fiasco. Also have to check that sodding Land Rover master that seems to have shat itself again. Bastard thing.

Brushed the last of the snow off one of the cars

It's almost warm enough to work on them again.
