Even when you can (he's rear-ended after all) it's a massive ballache.
Which reminds me, someone owes me for a rear end on a Jizz + 4hrs labour.

Theres a good chance that'll get a cat write off marked against it for that damage if it's gone into the body.

Re: What did you do today?
Had a visit from a dealer wondering if I wanted him to help me clear away some of my "scrap".
I asked him how much for the landcruiser to which he replied "a ton". I said I would let him know and popped his card in the bin. Cheeky cunt.
He said he'd cleared three out if the Glen this week, which apparently included a hilux and a Volvo estate. If he got them for a ton each, he's a robbing bas. Suppose they didn't have to sell them to him, I'm just annoyed I didn't go and buy them myself.

You should have seen what the last bloke did to the rear arch!
Weirdly because it's on a classic policy the girl on the phone basically said to me that they won't write it off unless it's burnt to the ground or similar.
Re: What did you do today?
The last few days I have been attempting to get a working gearbox in this old Saab V4. I got close to giving up and calling it a day with the bugger yesterday but today I have got there.
First off were clutch problems- of course I was shitting myself worrying that I'd put the clutch in wrong and considering taking the bloody engine out- again.
The new master cylinder, which I reckon belongs to a Mini weren't right, so I put the old one back on. I think the new one had a lower volume so wasn't quite able to get the clutch in far enough.
I tried all sorts, making a sleeve to go over the pin of the clutch fork, washers under the base of the slave cylinder.
Never had this much shit before. Then the old master developed a slight leak, then the slave developed a leak around the base which I pretty much cured with a home made copper washers but not before it had pissed DOT4 all over the engine bay floor and fucked the paint.
Eventually, with the old cylinder and some adjustment of the clutch fork I got a working clutch.
Then it transpired that I couldn't get 3rd or 4th gear, so I spent an hour or so sliding the gearbox shifter up and down the steering column to no avail. Finally I loosened off the engine and gearbox mounts, pushing both over towards the offside by maybe 10mm. That was enough to get 3rd and fourth, although I think another few mm will give a better result. Anyhow, praise be, got there in the end

I'm now the proud owner of the autoshite bike Vel satis. It's a lovely thing to drive. Suffering badly from sticky Renault plastics inside though. Any tips for cleaning them?
