Re: What did you do today?
Had some visa GTi rims refurbished and got them fitted to the van today, love them!
The cx has already blotted it's copy book. My friend fitted an eBay "reconditioned" starter motor. Yesterday I tried to start it and got flat battery symptoms. So charged the battery up and refitted it today. After various checks I removed the starter and bench tested it. It would barely spin when connected up. Stripped it apart and found this mess. Sandpapered everything clean and reassembled and it's no better. So ordered another new one.

Re: What did you do today?
That's fucked! Get thy money back sharpish.
Anyone know anything about Nissan Notes? Went looking at cars today, there are very few places around here that I trust to actually spend any money on a car with an expectation that it will last out its first tank of fuel. Central Garage (ex Rover/MG main dealer, then Mazda now MG again!) being one. Went there and I have never seen such an empty forecourt! I went in and casually asked if they were going bust!
Apparently 'no we are fucking not!' is an acceptable reply to a random knobber! selling everything they can get, one chap followed in a transporter full of cars and bought one off the top row before it was even off the transport!
Anyway, asked about petrol automatics they had in stock and the full quota was... two! A Honda Jazz on a 57 plate for £4250 and a Nissan Note on a 58 plate. Black and very tidy with 60.000 miles on the clock for £3250. I know a Nissan is just 'an car' but practical and reliable (?) with a 1.4 petrol and proper auto box.
Is that a good deal? I am so out of the loop I honestly don't know what's a good deal and what's a good rogering!
In other news...
Took Phoebe to Pets at Home to get measured up for a custom harness. Not needed as they had one in stock that was ideal for her and what I wanted: to go under her chest and belly, round her neck and with a big handle on the back(top). £24 all in and it only FUCKING WORKS! Took her to the park after and getting her out of the car is easy, and walking the few steps to her spot was a delight as she could actually walk with me just taking some of the weight, so she gets exercise and I retain what little spine I still have!
She got out of the car once home and again, walked/was helped into the gaff. So much easier than carrying her or fucking about fetching the trolley, getting her on it and then negotiating the path with its minor and major steps...
Don't want to get rid of the Merc, I do like the damn thing and it's fun but I'm getting old and the dogs are also and practical constraints would ae something else with a bit of height, 4 doors (and a hatch) would be great for everyday?

Re: What did you do today?
Eddie is the Jizz expert.
Glad to hear that the harness works well.
I'd get rid of the Merc, it'll help both you and the dogs and may even cut down the number of your female admirers.
To me it's a no brainer based on what you've said.
