Re: What did you do today?
The lad has got a Toyota Auris auto thing he bought for his girlfriend as a first car. However, once bought the insurance quote went up by many hundreds and she refused to pay it (she's a feisty bugger!) so it has been unused since Feb 2020! It's on eBay for £2795 but I can have it for a lot less than that (£2000) but it's an automated manual 1.6 with 95000 on the clock and a CAT 'D' some years ago.
Does that sound like a good deal or yet another pile of shit to avoid?

Sounds good to me.
Someone who knows a lot more, which is not difficult, will be along soon I guess.

A bloke at work with the mechanical sympathy of a pile driver has an Auris hybrid thing & hasn't managed to break it after several years. That's all I know about them.

Re: What did you do today?
My dad had the hybrid and it was fine nothing exciting but just did being a car ok. That was a cvt type box and very smooth. It still seems a bit expensive to me as that won't be cheap tax I don't suppose.

Re: What did you do today?
Tax is £210 and insurance is £250ish. Not cheap but I want something else! Just had a chat with Jane and she has gifted me her parking space round the back as and when I want it. I thought I'd buy one of those collapsible garages (sturdy frame inside, the car sits on the inside bits and no part touches the car itself) and not use it for a bit, just something cheapish and auto to ruin over the winter.
To be honest, I occasionally drive the Merc like an utter twat (today - mate was annoying me so I expressed my displeasure with a burst of noise/speed) and I need to chill the fuck out! Vets, people, cars, things are getting on my tits at the moment, something needs to change and the easiest, is the car Sad twat posting as 'Xtriple'.

It's not surprising you're a more than a bit wound up after the vets threatening to report you to the RSPCA if you didn't have Phoebe put down.

I'd go burn the vets building down, once you've checked there are no animals in there. That'll make you feel better.

Re: What did you do today?
But isn't that an Audi?
I'd pay anyone strong money so that I never have to drive any VAG product. Ever. I may have said it before but I really do not like any VAG product (including Bentley, Lambo, Bugatti - all shit) and could not in all good conscience, drive one after all the things I've said about them.
Plus, I fear the devil would take my soul and I'd spend eternity burning in a sea of molten lava.
Though I guess that would be better than driving an Audi!

Re: What did you do today?
I've always hated vag and said never ever again after my leon. But look at me now, I'm frightened to drive it. I suppose WHEN it shits itself it'll make a good breaker for someone.
Tbf the engine and drive train are perfect. Lovely quiet engine and box. It's a lovely ride with the adjustable suspension. It's the electrics that give me fear.
