Re: What did you do today?
I'm beginning to wonder if it's something to do with that. The diesel knock comes and goes, it's not constant. It's also occasionally stutters on idle. Now the thing is I might have caused this by pressure washing the engine bay this afternoon

There was a 405 in full Junkman spec at the FOTU. It even had the green stripe interior.
And as well, a 405 X4!
Pics in a bit.

Re: What did you do today?
Replaced some bits on the 730i following two MOT advisories, track rod end and a tired bush.
One track rods end was a bit worn so I replaced the whole track rod, £35 for a Lemforder part which is a BMW bit with the logo ground off. The upper control arm inner bush was worn so I cut open an almost new E34 part (shorter) I got FOC years ago and pressed the new bush out of that and into mine. I spent 30 minutes cleaning the arm with a wire brush in a grinder before zinc priming and painting it - no pics though. CNBA TBH.
Both front struts off because the new 6 years ago damper bump stops were fucked, new Boge ones might last another 6 years. One worn anti roll bar link and a split boot on the generally ratty lower control arm saw that replaced with BRAND NU M8. It won't drive any more majestically than it did last week but proper cars need maintaining.
On that basis, I've ordered two new front brake dust shields as the originals are now quite rusty, one having split and about to fall off. Not too bad at £55 the pair posted or less than BMW want for just one.

Re: What did you do today?
It was yesterday, but hey...
I replaced or topped up all the fluids in my Discovery. What a fucking ball-ache, I ended up lying in pools of oil for about 6 hours in total.
But I did change the engine oil, gearbox oil and oil in both diffs (rear diff oil had emulsified) as well as the oil & air filters, and I checked / topped up the transfer box oil, engine coolant, brake fluid, PAS fluid and ACE fluid.
That job won't need doing again for a while - a bloody good thing too, at over £120 in fluids!

Re: What did you do today?
I thought they still had swivels as they still have live axles. What have they got instead? UJs like Jeeps?
