What did you do today?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Went to my parents house today and watched a few planes at the Sidmouth Airshow.

Also picked up my Grandads Christmas scene that I'll refurbish. My parents very nearly threw this out too! They don't really do sentimental. It's about the only thing of substance that we've got left to remember him when he does pass away.

Done about 7 hours of driving over two days and a good 500 miles. Tomorrow going to Northampton to see my Grandad (first time in 2 years). That'll be another 6 hours and 300 miles. May be further as probably detour through the Cotswolds to pick up a Morris Minor boot lid.

A4 soaks up the miles pretty well but still tiring. Think I'll have a rest from driving on Sunday!

Finally, have a picture of an old lamppost in Sidmouth.

Just done a similar mileage over 3 days all over Lincs/Notts in the T25 (600 in all from home and back) and supposed to do another 300 tomorrow to Eastbourne and back. I might postpone that..... Not a good idea in the school holidays with most overseas holidays cancelled.

Red Arrows were over Horncastle on Wednesday, not displaying but returning to their Scampton base.

Had to go down to Newquay this afternoon to pick up a broken down car for a customer. The traffic wasn't that bad really. I even came back the long way along the Atlantic highway as I had a part to collect near Bideford. No hold ups at all but what idiot put the 40mph limit on the road from Barnstable up to South Molton for non existent road works. I think most of the invasion of grockles are on their way home now so hopefully we can enjoy the west country again.

Had a look at a late reg rover P5.

Bodywork wasn't to bad although some signs of corrosion along the sill edges.

There was an engineer's report in the window that didn't make good reading. Needs replacement brake discs and calipers and many suspension parts etc. A bit off putting.

The engine looked good for something that has been sitting in a barn for years.

All that looks like fairly standard stuff from a car that's been sitting idle for a long time.

I don't mind doing brake pipes and all the components but not so keen on all the steering and suspension rubbers etc. Leaking power steering could be a ball ache.

I'd be more concerned about the state of the bulkhead. At least two P5-owning mates have discovered, too late, the terminal rot that lurks there.
Mind you, agree about the engine - that doesn't say "damp shed" to me.
