What did you do today?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

So yesterday, went to start the Matiz and it didn't. Well actually I put the battery back on after charging it a week or two ago and leaving it in the garage. Tester said charged but it didn't turn over as usual. Jump pack on it and running instantly.

So I thought it'd be OK after a run. Went to Lidl, didn't start, where's the jump pack. Fuck, at home. Looked at Stagecoach app, no buses due, shanks's pony. Walked the dog back there with the jump pack and back home.

Check battery prices, ECP £47, but delivery today. Only alternatively was £75. Matiz in naughty corner and collect today.
Fitted, see if it starts Saturday.

I had a Lifan e-scooter. Was good for 40 mph on the flat (tweaked controller) and did about 30 miles on a charge. I have the build of a darts player, so it didn't like dragging me up inclines. I sold it as where I live now is up a big hill, and would be too steep for it with me on board.

Charging could be done whilst still in the bike, or in the garage as it was easy to take out. Spares were incredibly cheap.

Plus it was a very close colour match to my KTM, which help sway me into buying it.

After a bit more research I am off to Cannock on Saturday to probably buy one of these. You can easily derestrict to make them do 40 so just about right for the mile and a half commute.

It is a Lexmoto Cypher and they get a reasonable write up so for 1800 quid on the road it's worth a punt. Insurance is about 130 quid against the 60 odd they quote on the little scooter, but hopefully it will have almost enough power to pull my fat arse around.

Had to go to fucking London. I remembered that remote gadget I fitted to the fuel burning heater on my Discovery. Set it going, took the hound for a quick walk. Jump in the car and off we go to the station, nice and toasty. Bonus.

I still can't believe that Americans don't use proper tiles, but just bitumen shingles nailed to the roof. I has a nice $14k insurance claim to replace the shingles just before I sold it. That was just a storm, not even a hurricane!
The older bitumen tiles were pretty crap, basically just tar paper with gravel on.

What's on the roof now is glass fiber matting with kevlar backed reinforcement:- rated to 160 mph.

That looks cool, in a Honda Grom/Benelli TNT way.

Be interested in what you think of it.

Even though I had the use of a Zero DSR for a week a few years ago, I'd never buy one. Too little range for a bike (at least for me) and too high a price (for many I would think).

But for a 4 or 5 mile daily commute, these moped electric equivalents are a viable option.

Van acting itself again and losing power on bends. The fucker went into limp on the A19 as well. It also sounds like a bag of hammers on idle with a hellish knock although it goes away with the slightest of revs. That'll be the fuel filter again then. This is the 3rd or fourth in two years.
I went to the factors to get one and it's fucking tiny. About half the size of a tin of beans. What a great idea. No wonder the fucker blocks so quick. And also remember I was fleeced for £400 for a full service in May where they didn't even chamge the air filter never mind the fuel filter. Oh and the side door is frozen shut. That'll make work fun next week.
Fucking vehicles eh?

It's not starting so slightly less chance of that at the moment.

I think our eldest flooded it a couple of weeks ago. When I finally got it started it chucked out loads of black smoke, almost like it was on fire, and ran like a pig for a while.
I tried it again a week ago and it was on the cusp of firing but never did, despite a fully charged battery.
I suspect that the plugs are fouled but have been busy with my missus' summer house and shit so it got left.
