Re: What did you do today?
Would it be worth getting one of those temporary garages, like a gazebo sort of thing, for it? A friend keeps a couple of his classic cars in them as he's run out of space in his other garages. They seem pretty good. He's got a postwar Austin 16 in one which fits with loads of room to spare, so I'm sure you can find one to fit your lovely Alvis.

It'd be ruined if you didn't use it.
A bit of muck and a few doghairs can soon be cleaned off, a lot quicker than unseizing bits due to lack of use.

Re: What did you do today?
It'll go into storage in the next couple of weeks, it is allowed out from there, so better undercover and used on weekends than out on my drive. I've been down to have a look and it is secure and accessible (and only £81 per month, cheaper than a damp lock up down a back lane)
I need to move again to somewhere with a garage. It's always been the way, when I have a decent garage I can't afford anything nice to keep in it.

You won't ruin it. It's already been restored, all you have to do is repair anything that becomes necessary and enjoy the bloody thing. Especially with the dogs for which it is so suitable a conveyance it would be a crime not to do so. Cars like that need the wind in their sails IMHO.
There's a great long bar in Rock & Roll heaven.......

Thought about putting a good wax to put all over it? Or having it Ceramic Coated.
Just keep it out of the salty weather and it'll probably be ok.

Plus it's always repairable and restorable. A car like that someone will always be prepared to restore.

Re: What did you do today?
Colleague at work today asked me the fateful question "Why don't you just buy one nice car?". I replied with "Why would I want to do that for?"
"Because it might work!" was the reply. The easy retort was "Well your Golf GTi was a fair bit more and has been having an engine rebuild after it blew up cruising on the motorway"...
He likened my car buying like someone running a sanctuary for injured and ill goats. Except instead of making the sick goats better, I just buy more goats.

We're renting this place while our house is waiting to be fixed.
Yes, she replied, we do. It's in the garage but it doesn't run.
Challenge accepted.
Just mowed the yard with it. Soil is sandy, the blades are dull as hell but it purrs like a kitten.

Yard was overgrown so I asked the lady who we're renting from of they have a mower. Yes, she replied, we do. It's in the garage but it doesn't run.
