Isn't it these that are basically an angle iron frame with thin plates creating a box rather than the traditional thick metal chassis?Scruffy Bodger wrote: ↑Wed Feb 22, 2023 8:23 pmDunno about that. I have some fairly impressive* photos from a TD5 I was asked to repair. At least Johns has a proper chassis.
Great to see some quality welding and fab btw.

Re: What did you do today?
Finally fixed the fuel gauge on the 25 turbo today. I even managed to stop the leak around the tank unit with the aid of 2 tank unit seals from the Dodge and making a special tool to get it tight. Shame now the rest of the instrument panel has packed up now the gauge works. I also washed it and fitted some genuine front mudflaps. I am just waiting for a guy in France to remove the instrument panel from a turbo he is breaking and post it to me. I had a job cancel for Friday so will get on with the Lancia as it needs a bloody good road test and tune the carbs. I might even drag the hearse back out if the weather is good.

Re: What did you do today?
Yeap but as it is a LHD anyway it came like that from the factory. Finding a right hand drive MPH one would be really tricky as it is phase one only and there are 2 different types. Hopefully this one from France will be the correct one if he ever gets it out of the car and sends the photo's

I nearly have my full drive back after 5 months. Hopefully those Dolomite chunks are small enough now to fit in the car. Might take a few runs though.
Or call in the local scrap collector and be done with it quicker.

Volvo S70 changed to fly by wire a year or two into production. On the wired throttle ones You swap the ecu for one with a map on it for about £80. Just drill a couple of security screws and it was plug and play. The wireless ones needed to be mapped with a laptop.

I’d be interested to hear how much you’d get (if anything) for that shell collected.

Re: What did you do today?
They offered to pick it up for free but I won't get any money for it. Presumably to cover the cost of the fuel and time.angrydicky wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2023 9:50 amI’d be interested to hear how much you’d get (if anything) for that shell collected.
If I drive and weigh it in, I think it was £140 per tonne for mixed metal. So for these remaining bits I reckon I'll get another £10 or £20. Which about covers consumables cost for cutting all the bits out.
Even though I won't get paid for a collection, it does save me time. Which is worth something in its own right.

Cambelt, water pump and coolant done. Pretty much nothing else is needed now. Maybe Haldex fluid change when I get around to it.
Probably nothing else to report except if it (inevitably) blows up some point.
