Nobody and I mean nobody, can say 'shite' like a Scotsman. It's absolute poetry.
Fuck it - get it done and keep it. They're such a nice drive and all cars rust somehow. It could be worse - you could own an E46.
This is my attitude to it. Already dropping it off with Gingernuttz or however he spells it on Friday. Then I'm off on holiday up the west coast in the Civic.
That means the Civic will likely need welded before its MOT in November.
Looking again at the fails and advisories, 'sill' is menioned a lot. Probably not so bad. Got any pics? I'd get the advisory areas cleaned up and given a lick of paint.

This is the offside rear corner.
The mark isn't even on the jacking pad, just that tiny wee hole!
It likely needs a whole jacking pad anyway.
The other three corners could just do with a wire brush and some stonechip / paint.
I've owned far worse E36s that have got through MOTs before...

I put my Chinese, great bunch of lads, jump pack on the XJR to get the boot open. Just for a laugh I turned the key without expecting much. It only fired straight up with just a rattle for a second or two that sounded like it took a moment for petrol to get to all eight pots. Bloody impressive off a wee pack about the size of two packs of superkings, especially as the car's battery is showing about 1v when tested.
I've run it up to temp just to hear it working and I'll have to get a 019 batt ordered now I've confirmed that's what's in it. Annoyingly the dead batt looks new, so it can only be leaving it parked up that killed it. I did have it on charge for days a couple of months ago and it didn't come back so I know it's dead and not worth sodding about with.
Got the battery on charge as I got my slightly bigger charger back when I emptied dad's garage. It won't work, but proving it to myself as it showed 11.75v after the car had got to temp.
