What they are for doesn't really matter, the fact you can meet a demand before the GBOL's get a toe-hold is good stuff to behold.
Keep on Keeping On.

If you can find a way to scale up enough to take TaTa out of the UK steelworks business as a step to making Britain Great again that would be fucking awesome.

As someone who worked in the steel industry for the best part of 40 years, Tata actually did a decent job of keeping the industry afloat in difficult times. They spent a bloody fortune of their own money when most companies (and the government) would have bailed out and let the lot go to the wall.

Yeah that's a bit more beat up than I want to deal with right now. Double the money gets a running one in halfway decent nick with an interior that hasn't been destroyed.

That one also has no sills left

I did W116 on the cheap (280SE though not a full-cream one). Bought off a traveller for £200 and smoked for a year between MOTs. I'd like another but they are stupid money these days. I remember taking the present Mrs Rocker to a Linda Gail Lewis (Jerry Lee's sister) gig in it and proposing to her in it after we got back to her place. She drove us home (Mrs R, not LGL) and I was impressed with the way she gunned it round roundabouts.....

It's a bit of a turd. Needs a new windshield. No idea if it has a title. I might buy it for $800 but as you say, they've become a bit salty these days.

It's tempting, to have representation of three decades on the driveway though.

I had several 116's. a 280, 35-, 450 and 450 6.9! I loved them until I changed my allegiance to 126's which are a better car. My 280 was lovely the others, all seemed to like a touch of rust here and there (everywhere) and one of the 450s was a complete nightmare of rust under the factory-fitted bitumastic/rubber-type underseal they fitted. I learned a LOT with that car.

They do drive very nicely and the mechanics all seem to be from the MB 'good' era. Steering box so can get a lot of play (though dead easy to fix for nothing) and the electric windows have an aluminium mechanism that once old and a bit creaky will snap...

I'd have another like a shot but I'd still prefer a 126!

Swapped cars, I like driving the Merc, it is still a pleasant place to be... and the sun was out so, roof off naturally. A lady I know (vaguely) was taking the mickey out of the car and how were two big(ish) dogs going to fit in the tiny little thing?

The answer? Really rather well thank you!
