I decided that the colour of the leather repair I did to the Jag a while ago, was too white. So asked on the Jag forum and there appear to be two colours with the same code...mine isn't the common one naturally. So I ordered a very small amount of the alternative which arrived today.

My car is 'Barley' inside, not 'Champagne' and the new touch-up pen is the correct colour. However... doing delicate and small interior jobs is not wise when there's a Bella about, keen to help. So the new repair (it's only a little worn on the outer bolster, really any twat that's less of a twat than me, would have left it well alone...) has, while a good colour match, multiple black dog hairs all over the place. It looks ten times worse than before!

I have however, ordered a decent quantity of 'All in One' stuff so will attempt to do rather better when it arrives.

Naturally, it's broken because it's a Jaguar.

Tommy empathizes with you, except he says "it has the wrong number of cylinders"

Seafrost, bloody gorgeous colour on those!

How's it broke?
Have the timing chain tensioners been done?
Gearbox burst? that normally happens on the NA cars, the A drum fails due to a cracked valve block causing harsh changes.

AJ-V8 or LS swapped?

Iirc your missus was quite taken by the Jags up at storage here in the UK. I guess this was an easy car purchase to get past management? ;)

I can tell you a supplier for a LS swap kit, there's a couple being done using their kits on a forum I use. Both in the US.

AJ V8, think the tensioners took a dump. I've written this engine off but potentially have a lead. 2001 (this is a 2000) XK8 was the same 4.0 engine?

Found a very nice kit but I might be able to put another 4.0 in it for less than the kit.

Should be, I think it's about '99 they went to the AJ27. The throttle bodies are obviously different due to a big vacuum thingy on the side of the AJ26 one, so if that matches it's the same engine.

Depends if it's been run much as to if it's scrap. It's normally the secondary tensioners that go first & you can get away with it jumping one tooth without hitting anything, but it will be running like a bag of shit at that point. If you pop the cam covers off, there's a flat on each cam at the front of the engine. You should be able to put a straight edge across them if the chain hasn't jumped.

I think the NA has VVT as well, so that's another possible, but I can't say I've heard of it failing.
