I now realise how the Doloshite was considered an upmarket car compared to some of it's similarly sized brethren and are very appreciative of my rear trailing arms and front suspension that isn't from the 1940s...

Chugged along well though, the 1275cc in the Marina is way better geared for fast road use, wasn't screaming away on the motorway like the Dolly 1300 does, and the suspension while not making for great handling did absorb potholes well.
Gretna... Did you go with your missus too ?

Nah, I was down there with a completely different bird. As y'do.

I took the car to the exact spot where I abandoned the Dolomite after it's engine grenaded... Also as y'do.

For the curious. I figured it was time to get a manual, so I got one.

Oh and I flogged the Jag the other week, did I mention that? Needed the money back.
Yep, I actually do like that.

It's a car that doesn't look like a total tart's handbag from the best era of the least-crap French car manufacturer, and it's got the right gearbox. It'll probably be OK on mpg too. Win!

I thought he already was? Isn't that why he owns a Buick engined car?
Yeah, it's about time they paid us back for RR licensing engines for the North American Mustang

Removed the rear suspension arms from the "modern" (2010 Octavia)
Last time I encountered that much rust it was on a BL. :(

Some bright spark at VAG had designed the arm bushes with aluminium inner sleeves.
Steel bolt thro and of course no grease at all.
Electrolytic solid lump.
So removed with the Angry Grinder.
