Took my daughter out for a trip around the block when it was all done - she was scared at first (never having been in such an ancient car) - but then she pronounced it "so cool".

Kids love old cars if they're given the opportunity! I can still remember being taken out for the day in a Chummy Seven, it was before I started school and possibly a greater education than anything that followed. The smell, noise and draughtiness still lingers....Wonderful.

I would love a ride (or a drive) in an Austin 7 - some might think it's an odd bucket list item but there it is.

The place I used to work for looked after a 7 and he never let me drive it as they are pretty shit. I followed him in it once and watching the wheels flex when he went round corners has put me off them. The 202 Peugeot was bad enough and I expect the 201 will be even worse

Sold the 806 this evening unfortunately the guy has bought it for spares and will be breaking it. Oh well it had a good run on 275000 miles and nearly 5 years which was a record for me. I just hope the crappy old discovery gives close to as good a service as the 806 did.

Followed a new Defender on my way home tonight. It's a right ugly bastard.

Eight squares for rear lights is a particularly poxy design feature.

Agreed on the lights, worst bit for me is the fake chequer plate. The factory have taken a reasonable looking vehicle and spoiled it with tasteless gargoyles- just what owners of the old Defenders do. The most remarkable thing is that there are people prepared to pay the stupid price.

Given that the designer of this seems to go on about reductive design I'm not certain that he and I share the same understanding of what the first word means. Those lights look like things I'd have bought from Halfords or Ripspeed to 'personalise' a rusty Mk3 Cortina in the late 70s.
