Re: What did you do today?
I did something car related for a change.
The bairn's punto has a slow puncture. I can almost thole a very slow puncture, but when the compressor has to get fired up every morning I lose patience.
I took the wheel off expecting to find a stray nail that the slater or joiner has dropped embedded. Some bubbling water revealed it was actually leaking at the rim.
I thought about using the tractor bucket to break the bead but opted for the jack and the weight of the perkins engined 109.
Didnt think to take photos at the time, but you get the idea. The rim was dented at the leaking point so I gave it a few belts with the ball pein and cleaned the bead seat with the power file.
No more bubbles. The brake drum has seen better days!

Re: What did you do today?
Took dogs to park, suffered a steamed up windscreen so sat with a/c on full, heated screen. mirrors etc and was rewarded with the dash lighting up like it's Christmas..; which it is. EPS fault, ABS, widescreen wash level... fuckity fuck!
Seems that means the battery was 'low voltage' but it restarted the car easily enough and continued to run the A/C etc so fuck knows. Bought shopping and when I restarted the car, all the messages had buggered off and stayed off so maybe it is just a low voltage thing. How many does the fucker need? 12 (alright 13.4 from the alternator) volts usually seems sufficient for most cars...

Re: What did you do today?
Fucking thing! The battery is not even that old (last year so about 12 months) but I don't use the car that much any more so I guess sitting there with everything on to clear the screen may have been enough?
