Thanks again Paul for reminding me why I don't go to car shows....Nearly caved in a week or so back but kept my resolve. I like looking at cars not garden furniture.....
I got talking to the escort estate guy as my stepdad had a few. His were all end of life sheds he'd buy for £50 or whatever knowing it'd be scrapped when the mot ran out.
He had quite a few mk1/2 escort vans that me and my sister would be bounced around in the back with the odd greyhound or two. Quite often we could see the tarmac rushing underneath us as we jostled about.
I've had similar experiences but my old man bought vans. One had the passenger seat sat on blocks of wood (which he happily sat me on) you could clearly see the tarmac flying by underneath. This may have been in pre having to wear seat belt years too as I can't have been that old.
Old bloody cars. Working on my mates Renault 16 and dad comes in “have you seen you’ve got a flat tyre on the Hampshire?”
Well that’s a bit annoying. No obvious damage anywhere and it’s a brand new inner tube. I’ve put the spare on for now but it’s a slightly narrower 5:25 crossply from a Somerset so it’s not ideal for the road, ok as a get you home I suppose. I’ll take it back to the place that fitted it and get them to check it over.

Old bloody cars indeed. At least yours works, last Sunday my Impala's engine decided it didn't want to proceed in a seemly manner so it's off the road now until I can get it off to a reputable engine doctor. And I'm still waiting for my Anglia to go down south to my friend's workshop to be recommissioned so I can use it, it's been sitting around for 2-3 years. I am getting fed up with the seemingly endless wait so may order four new white band tyres, get a new battery and see if it responds to getting started. Not sure about the fuel in it, I am wondering if I put some fresh in will it burst back into life and run okay? Hmmm. Then I can top up the axle and gearbox (the seals leak 'cos it's 63 years old) and tootle about in it while the Impala gets sorted.
Might be in your area next weekend, I have tickets for the show at East Kirkby and may also visit the Carrington Steam Fair which I believe is just down the road from you?

I am sure I remember many cars needing the toe-in / toe-out adjusting to something quite different when changing from crossplies to radials.
Mwahhhhahahahahaha!
