Re: Austin A70 Hampshire - running and driving!
All I’ve done is the colour, and taxation class changes.
Agree they can be cunts when they want to be. When I changed it to Historic Vehicle, they taxed it for me (previously showing as untaxed since 1987). They then had the cheek to send me threatening letters about owning a taxed car without insurance, pathetic really. I sorned the bastard.
With the Cambridge, I swiftly got the threatening letter about keeping an untaxed car. I managed to SORN it online but it’s still showing as untaxed as (iirc) cars last on the road prior to 1998 don’t need SORN anyway.
Sorry for sounding a bit like LBF there! All this talk of DVLA is no good really!

It's fine. You don't rabbit on about the dvla continuously.
And are articulate and interesting. And you don't own a spaz chariot. And you don't talk about fucking lightbulbs incessantly.

Thanks, I even sold my Reliant Robin as the image of small, blue, plastic three wheelers had been tainted!
In reality, it was because I was far too big to drive it comfortably, and I thought another one wouldn’t be hard to find if I missed it, which I haven’t to be fair.

What the fuck did you change the tax class for? You only do that when you need to tax it, not before. My Regal is still under Tricycle or whatever it is.angrydicky wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 6:01 pm When I changed it to Historic Vehicle, they taxed it for me (previously showing as untaxed since 1987). Any taxed car needs continuous insurance these days.

I didn’t think they would actually tax it. Thought that would be down to me when I was ready.Eddie Honda wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 6:18 pmWhat the fuck did you change the tax class for? I’ll probably tax it soon anyway, I’ll add it to my classic insurance policy first though. It’s not that far off having the first run around the block.

Ah, but they do. I'll admit though to be advised of such by a member of staff back in the days when the had local offices...angrydicky wrote: ↑Mon Mar 13, 2023 6:21 pmI didn’t think they would actually tax it. Re: Austin A70 Hampshire - running and driving!
They’re great fun to nip about in. Wouldn’t recommend one if you’re much over 5’ 6” though.
The Hampshire drivers seat, which was the passenger seat originally, was seized on its runners in quite a forward position. Before I put it back in, I greased the runners and now it moves smoothly. Found a comfortable driving position quickly and unusually for me, it’s not all the way back either. It is in most cars.
However, it’s not ideal as in that position, half the seat rail is overhanging the rear footwell. I’m 15 st and 6ft too so I plan to pack some bits of wood under there or something to protect it from getting bent and putting strain on it.
