I take it modern transits don't use left hand thread on one side anymore then?
Standard torque is tight given the weight they carry - but not that tight...

A wee update on the tranny tipper.
It had failed its mot on rot to sill, inner wing, wheel arch and step, brake pipes, insecure bumper, oil leak and rubbing hand brake cable.

I left fixing it to the last minute, as per, and got rained off, thereby missing the retest date.

I did the welding and sorted the handbrake cable but couldn't see much wrong with the brake pipes. So, I cleaned the brake pipes, taped up the frilly wing and put it in for a second test.

That welding is really shit. I blame 3mm plate onto rusty Ford inner wing.

It failed again. This time the brake pipes passed, but the fog light had stopped working, the oil was still leaking and he found another hole in the step.

As reported elsewhere, I bolted a new wing, welded up the hole with the help of my fire extinguisher and sorted the other wee jobs.

Squeezed it in for the retest today which it passed, so the £600 tipper can now graft for another year.

It's not ready for shifting a couple of tons of hard core yet though.
Check out the tipper bed frame

Tip that with any weight and look out! Some 80mm box section needed there. Fortunately, the state of the bed is not an mot item, the chassis is sound.

The bed needs some new metal too.

I had to replace the lowering solenoid, but while it worked off the switch to begin with, I now need to bypass the switch. Something else to sort.

It's no classic but saving mk6 trannies from the scrapper is becoming a habit of mine.

Coming soon to this thread - allegro and maestro action.

I don't know how you get time to fix your fleet, let alone build a house too.

Evenings and weekends, but nothing gets done quickly.

I went fishing for sea trout this evening. Only small brown trout were interested in my stoat's tail, so I took some photos.

It looks more as though you were after land trout.
