id agree the nova was better. though a 106 rallye is close. the 205 was more fun as a 1.4 tu than the xu series.

Well that's me told; however, I never assumed that they were wonderful, I grew up with them and suppose that familiarity breeds content (sic). I like that they are a big meccano set and infinitely rebuildable (accepting that you do have to keep rebuilding it every few days, weeks, months). Perhaps I just like shit cars.

I'm with you on this. You either get Land Rovers or you don't... if you do get them they're ace and/or a total ball-ache whilst still managing to be loads of fun.Guest wrote: ↑Wed Jun 12, 2019 12:50 pmWell that's me told; however, I never assumed that they were wonderful, I grew up with them and suppose that familiarity breeds content (sic). If you don't you want to shoot their owners with French missiles, apparently. Which would probably run out of electricity, because French.

Re: Cars that I thought would not be shit but were
sorry, i should clarify, i spent 5 years fixing the damn things for a day job and it actually ended up with me on a decent anti depressant and therapy. no joke.
i like the new ones but anything pre 2012 is pure bleh.
though i have a fierce passion for vauxhal novas and mk1 cavaliers....

Other way round for me, I like the old ones, i.e. pre-Disco 3.
But I wouldn't want to fix them for a living...!

So's a Rialto with a wheel missing.
And I have never, ever heard anyone rank a Nova over a 205 in the driving stakes.

I wouldn't know, I've never driven a 205.

My missus had a 205, a 1.4GR, in the late 80s/early 90s.
In some ways it was as nice to drive as my MK2 Golf GTi.

If only you had replaced the underpinnings with those of a Golf and fitted air suspension.RetroShite wrote: ↑Wed Jun 12, 2019 10:25 amAlso everyone lost their shit when I removed the hubcaps, admittedly maybe I shouldn't have said I'd binned them but it seems I can't do anything with a car I own without upsetting somebody.
