Yeah, to stop the parking pawl being snapped/bent if someone bumps into the car rather hard.

Well it can be stolen by an opportunist, as many are in winter when owners are "warming them up". Insurers will be laughing too.

Nice to see that, down here it would be uprooted and in the Red Field at Beaulieu the following September.
