Yep, operational heater, proper steering and to misquote Alexei Sayle, both of them look like you're sitting inside a 50s radio on the interior. Would imagine the Moggy is faster than a beetle too.

They are good cars which handle like go-karts but finding a good original one is key. Many have suffered these pointless 'upgrades' like that one which does them no favours at all. They're not exactly difficult to keep in a good state of repair.

The Armstrong Siddeley was not the beginning of the end at all. It had already been decided to wind down car production so the firm could concentrate on the aircraft side of the business. They still had the 346 Star Sapphire and they sold well to the end.

Pointless Minor upgrades are indeed a pain. Mine has discs, rather it didn't because two or three boxes of autojumble shoes would last me longer than my eyesight. Also has telescopic shocks on the back which are useless. I'm going back to lever arm (filled with 20/50) as soon as I get some spare time but it isn't really worth changing the brakes over just to prove a point. Just sooner wish the previous owner had paid for some proper welding....

The only worthwhile thing I've changed to are the Metro GTa seats after taking the car to Cornwall and back.

Yes! The true discomfort of the originals was only fully realised halfway down, though.....

I think what our honourable rocker is saying is that the standard Minor seats in certain forms aren't very comfortable when you're spending hours at the wheel. I've had no further aches or pains with my duotone seat since replacing the webbing and making a few further alterations to the tension since. The seat back could do with the frame bending back a bit to give a more reclined posture.

Very late Minors had optional recliners which I have never tried. I certainly haven't binned the originals, they are up in the loft and may one day return to their rightful place. As I am sure Squire Onions would agree, you lose something when you mess with a Minor. The originals were delighfully simple to remove and made the interior more spacious. Issy knew what he was doing, by and large....

I agree. Very dangerous not wearing a seatbelt like that picture shows.
