Looks like something I would see going round Ingleston race track in 1982.

That 3 litre Austin wants a BRG paint job, the pram handle off the boot lid and some Wolfies on it. Instant Poundland New Avengers mount for a cut-price Steed.

Why do that to a 3 litre rather than a Jag though?
Unless I suppose you already have a knackered 3 litre.
I doubt that you'll see another one so at least that might be in its favour.

As a fan of them it's a rare thing for me to say, but just race the poor old heap and put it out of its misery

I've seen that bloody heap reposted several times on each of several different forums.

What these people never understand, is that whatever shite they're hawking is only worth what someone else is prepared to pay. So instead of starting off at a reasonable price and letting the market decide the value, or coming to a mutually agreeable sum, they cling to this ludicrous I KNO WOT ITS WORTH M8 idea, and in the meantime the car just deteriorates further.
It's possible that this particular moron did actually pay 5 grand for the heap and is trying to recoup it, but I very much doubt it.

I am not sure if it is the same but is that not the same lump as the healey 3000 ? If so the engine may well be worth that much to someone restoring one. When you read these restoration guides and they say an engine rebuild will cost 5k or whatever you may soon find a buyer if it's a decent lump. The rest of the car is shit so he may as well break it and make his money that way like I did with the RO80 I had. You have to be brutal but a lot of old cars are worth good money in parts especially when they are borderline worth the cost of restoration and why should he give it away if he can sell the lump for 5k.
