I'm just thankful that pre-80s British classics aren't as cheap as they used to be. Otherwise I'd be like a kid who's just found a tenner and runs to the nearest sweet shop to spend it all on Fruit Salad and Refreshers.

I'd much prefer a red Spitfire, but yellow is almost acceptable.

There was a semi-dismantled but mostly complete Wolseley 1500 up for sale the other side of Glasgow for £600 on Sunday. Sold now, but if I had off-road storage I'd have been on the phone and down to see it that afternoon. Just adding to the workload though, one more project means another one slows down or you end up with cars sitting and waiting.

I'm already having to actively alternate using the Acclaim and Volvo just to prevent the brakes sticking and batteries going flat.

Would you be buying it because you want to have a Wolseley 1500, or buying it just because it's a cheap old car? I often suffer from the latter and was very tempted with that cheap Wolseley near me.

I actually don't mind several projects on the go. If I had only the Dolomite as a project, I'd have got fed up long ago and sold it. Where as I can chip away at bits when I feel up to it.

I've not really been looking at anything in particular as I currently have my fill of 70s and 80s cars, but the odd 50s/60s crock appeals. Essentially I want something older. The Dolly is a late 60s design, the Acclaim a late 70s one, I'd like something designed in the 50s.

I try not to have cars that are too similar to one another, the Dolly and Acclaim are the same size but worlds apart in how they feel to drive. The Volvo is several market segments higher so is different again.

One of those cars I'd like to give a go, but not sure I'd want to own as long term? Iirc someone said on here that the Moggie is a better car.
