Re: '69 Seat 1500 Funebre (and other lonely hearse's)
Well this fucker just wants to have all my car fettling funds. The new fuel pump was fitted then it decided to start playing the old misfire game that it had when I first bought it. It has now fouled the plugs up as it is running way too rich and no end of adjusting the carb makes a difference. So thanks to Paypal credit and a decent introductory offer I have got a brand new Weber carb coming for it. The original carb is a Spanish knock off copy of the Weber so hopefully it will bolt straight on.

I was just wondering whether my surplus Weber would have worked, but apparently not.

Re: '69 Seat 1500 Funebre (and other lonely hearse's)
Well the new carb was fitted and it was running nicely yesterday and drove 35 miles with no issues. This morning I thought I would take it to the Haynes museum breakfast meet, but no such luck. It loses power and surges up and down. If you stop for a short while it is fine again for about 3 or 4 miles and does it again. The fucker is back home in the garage and can stay there until I get time. I have found a new distributor so it will have that next week just in case.

If I ever got put into anything as hideous as those Greek hearses when I peg it I'll come back & haunt whoever is responsible. That is a promise.

Was that with the electric, or the mechanical fuel pump?panhard65 wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2019 12:55 pm Well the new carb was fitted and it was running nicely yesterday and drove 35 miles with no issues. Re: '69 Seat 1500 Funebre (and other lonely hearse's)
The new mechanical pump seemed to be the cause of last weeks breakdown so it is on another new electric one. I feels like fuel as it will tick over perfectly. then you set off again get above 40 and it starts to surge. If you get it on a very light throttle it will keep going. It does sound like a bit of a misfire when it does it but it is hard to tell whilst driving it. When I checked the points last week the distributor shaft has quite a bit of play in it so after a bit of searching I have found a new one for under £100 so that was ordered. I will get the poxy thing to run properly sooner or later, hopefully in time for a magazine shoot with a few other hearses later this month.
