Spanish hearse thread now with six appeal
As we now seem to have a permanent home I will do a quick recap of the trials and tribulations of my Seat Funebre. I will also add any other interesting hearse pictures I come across.
Ok as most of you will know I found this little hearse in Barcelona, the seller said it was in excellent condition so I sent him a 500 euro deposit and hopped on a plane. The seller was a lying toerag as it was very far from "excellent". I still bought the poxy thing though and proceeded to drive it 900 miles home through France. It was an eventful trip made all the more interesting due to the fact it had very little in the way of brakes and kept overheating every 10 to 15 miles. After 2 very trying days and one flat battery I got the old girl home. Once home it needed a hell of a lot of work including all 4 brake calipers, brake and clutch master cylinders, all the brake hoses and the clutch hose, Brake booster servo, water pump, engine rebuild, thermostat and housing, heater valve, radiator and fan, 4 new tyres and most of the exhaust. With that lot done it had a few trips out and only broke down once when the fuel pump failed. An electric pump was fitted and a couple of fuel filters. I was fairly happy it was now reliable so decided to take it to Bromyard last weekend and we all know how that turned out.

Re: '69 Seat 1500 Funebre (and other lonely hearse's)
It was an epic collection and I love the styling. And the little illuminated 'SP' plate.

Re: '69 Seat 1500 Funebre (and other lonely hearse's)
After having to be recovered home it was time to sort the fuel system properly. The cause of the breakdown was the electric pump clogged up with crap from the fuel pump. It had a couple of fuel filters before the pump but that wasn't enough to save it. First up getting the tank out was a bit of a game and involved removing the deck.
£180 later and I have a nice clean tank. Whilst the deck is out I have carried out a couple of small rust repairs in the rear boot floor. It was mainly the spare wheel well and none of it really noticeable once the deck is back in but it needed doing. Another job I have been meaning to do was to move the bulkhead behind the front seat back to try and get a bit of legroom in the front.Ths turned out to be nearly impossible as there is a frame that goes from the door pillars and across the roof. I could of cut it out and moved it back but that would of involved removing the side windows, so I just chopped a couple of beams out of the frame and managed to slot the seat in a under the top edge of the bulkhead. It has only given me about 3 inches extra legroom but does make a big difference.

It seems I can only add 3 photo's at a time for some reason. Anyway today I have fitted a new mechanical pump and the tank is back in with new filters so hopefully she is back on the road.
