Eddie Honda's wheels of steel (and occasionally alloy)

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Re: the robbing bastards at the DVLA

I put the Synergie on SORN just before the end of November 2019. I had to send a paper SORN in from Ireland as I was a fuckwit and left the docs in Carlisle, so didn't have the ref number to do it online.

After that, the cunts were still dipping the account each month for a further three months. I finally got to check the post on my last and most recent visit to England on 8th Feb 2020 and found a letter from the DVLA basically saying it was "pre-SORN" and I didn't have to make one. After ringing them up, I was able to email them the letter. They said that I could correspond by email only if I replied to a certain email to be sent within the follow 72h and if I failed to respond to that, I wouldn't be able to use that contact route and it's be only pen and paper. Ironed it out and agreed that I'd get a refund of the three months as it was their fault but because of The Sniffles™, it'll be sat in the post pile there. MY. SEVENTY-ODD. QUID.

More recently, I did an online SORN late on the 30th April 2021, to avoid double-tax on Tommy's Jaaag (what with the keeper change site being 7-7.) Tommy's Jaaag is now in Tommy's name. But unlike past SORNs on the Pug where they'd recredit the DD by the 11th, I think because of the keeper change the fuckers have sent the refund as a bloody cheque. ANOTHER. TWENTY-FIVE. QUID. OF. MINE.

tl;dr DVLA CUNTS.

Major headache at Honda Towers looming on the horizon. More details later.

Pug 306 update

With all this sunshine, I still haven't done hee-haw to sort it out and get the NCT test done on it. It needs a good bit of work to start with. First off is the front end. Both springs are broken and while I did promptly purchase a pair of bog-standard KYB springs, they are still in the boot. Also needs a couple of front arms, as although they replaced not that many years ago, the "P" bush is definitely shagged on the driver's side. I might even do the dampers for good measure. while I'm in there.

First things first though. The bonnet release cable is snapped at the lever end. I can still just about grab the frayed cable with pliers and release the bonnet, so that has to be sorted. Part from Pug is NLA and is different to LHD (longer or shorter, I don't know). If the handle mechanism is broken, I suppose I can get an identical handle with the wrong cable to effect a repair, as not too far from the house is a cable making company in Rathcoole. They'll make anything up, so if I give them enough bits, I should be able to put that job to bed.

The nearside bonnet hinge is knacked and there is a small dent in the rear corner of bonnet to show for it. One of the pivots has sheared through - TADTS. I managed to get a pair of NOS hinges some time ago, but they are in primer and could do with a blow over with some paint. The list goes on.

These two issues haven't encouraged me to pull the battery out which could do with a charge. It's probably knackered now. I'll have a bash at resurrecting it, but I might have to bit the bullet and splash out on a new one. It's a big bastard as the roof interlock permits hood action only when the engine is off. Stupid and can be rejigged to work with the engine on and the handbrake light illuminated instead.

Add on rear brakes and an exhaust system to be sorted and the bloody sunshine will be gone by the time I finished.

WTAF have you been doing to it? It was immaculate when it left my possession.
If you got your finger out it's only a half days work in reality.

Nothing. That's the problem!

I've got to sort a wheel rim out. It's fucked and no cunt that I found so far deals with blind centre alloys.
