At our average mileage that would be roughly 6 years time. Genuinely don't know what it's going to need in that time. Biggest problem is that so little has been replaced over the years. So it'll start needing stuff and it's knowing where to cut it.

Fuel pressure regulator, front wheel bearings, gearbox bearing, thermostat, clutch+DMF, 2x cambelts and oil+filters+brakes+tyres have been changed from factory. Rear spring replaced for the MOT this year. Turbo, injectors, DPF, EGR and even battery are all untouched since out of the factory. Stuff that can and will potentially fail suddenly. Also clutch judders on occasion for the last 60k miles.

Rear arch paint also has chipped off and bubbling. Probably should sort that really.

The S-Line suspension, apart from that rear spring, is original and feels it. Seats are remarkably unworn on the bolsters though and the foam is comfortable.

Pulls ok but doesn't feel particularly lively nowadays. Possibly because it's had the emissions fix applied. Also low revs it has on occasion juddered and failed to accelerate briefly - I suspect EGR sticking. Emissions fix is known to work that valve harder.

So basically ticking time bomb where it has potential for big bills at any point. But then is that just my mindset now it's passed 200k, like many peoples mindset when something passes 100k?

Started with a 2001 ford escort van. Second time round I thought I won't have another rear ender surely, can't happen to me in the same vehicle, same colour and year. I was wrong.

Replaced with berlingo van. Nice van but mot was getting due,pas pump was getting noisy and diesel pump was starting to leak. Over 8 months I'd spent a lot on it and decided no more. Sold it and bought c4 picasso. Should have kept the van really. Flat spot running issue and eml light when cold ,couldn't get to the bottom of it. Broke even when I sold to a trader.

C4 sold and replaced with 2002 avensis. Rose tinted glasses firmly on in that one. Should have dug dug lot deeper into it before buying. Scrapped at a loss

Focus 2.0 auto ghia estate. Ideal really as I can fit my scooter in it and being an auto I have no issues with my bad leg, seats are really comfy and boot is large. A bit thirsty but it's to be expected, low mileage and overall fantastic condition with no rust. I'd like to keep this one and with the history, mileage and condition I've no reason to get rid.

Still got the motability mini, wanted to return it but had an early gcb when covid hit so can't yet. It's lease is up in 2023 and it won't be getting replaced. Prices on motability have gone mental for the down-payment and with wife going down to part time we have no use for 2 cars. I struggle to get the scooter in the boot and now my son is with us we can't use it for holidays either as the boot is too small. I find the seats too flat and not supportive enough as well as no armrest.

I started 2021 with a 1992 Saab 9000 and a 1995 BMW 316i.

They both went in June. I then bought a 2005 Alfa Romeo 147 and moved to Stirling.

I sold the Alfa Romeo and bought a 1998 BMW 323i and a 1995 Peugeot 205 1.8D.

I also briefly owned a 2006 Honda Civic 2.2 diesel which had its rear axle held in by hopes and dreams.

I'd say the 1998 BMW 323i is a 'forever car' as I do rather like E36s, and with the combination of a 6-pot and a manual box it's quite lovely. The 205 ain't bad either. They're polar opposites of each other but that's what makes them fun.

Its been a quiet year for me

Started the year with the Golf GTi I won back in a raffle after selling it.

Bought a Saab 9-3 cab in Feb

Sold Golf in March

Still have 308cc for wife

Still have 1996 Civic auto for daughter

Still have Z900RS Cafe I bought in 2020.

Changed jobs in November and my weekly mileage is now less than 20.

Must try harder next year, quietest year ever for me I think.

Still got my 63 plate Freaklander (it's been expensive this year), my 1999 Defender 90 Td5 (it's not been quite as expensive this year) and my 1991 Mk2 Golf Gti (which I really must get an MoT for next year).
The only change has been swapping my 2014 VW Caddy for a 68 plate Transhit Connect. A much better van in my opinion.

I looked at a 04 Ford Focus 2.0 Ghia manual estate the other week, 60k miles. Guess how much? Ok, I'll tell you, £3,995.

Incidentally, my old gaffa has just took a wheel chair converted Berlingo in chop if that's of any interest for your scooter?

I also still have the Disco TD5, which hasn't really cost anything this year beyond a fucked-up oil filter change (the fitter cracked the centrifugal oil filter housing but wouldn't admit it) a service elsewhere and a pair of tyres. 168,000 miles

The Shogun has literally cost nothing, but has barely been used.
